This coming Thursday, the IW Rural Community Council will be running a short event to help you unravel the mystery surrounding legal identities for not-for-profit groups.
Are you involved in running a not-for-profit organisation, be it a sports club, self help group, arts group or service provider?
Or perhaps you’re thinking of taking on a Community Asset Transfer or setting up a new organisation.
If so, this free event (for most small organisations and bursaries may be available for some larger organisations) is right up your street.
This event, held 6pm and 8.30pm, will be running through the differences between various trusts and non-profit organisations, including:
* unincorporated association,
* Community Interest Company,
* Charitable Trust,
* Company Limited by Guarantee,
* Charitable Incorporated Organisation,
* Industrial and Provident Society
* Company Limited by Shares
Find out where charitable status fits within with these to help you determine which one is right for your organisation.
If you feel you’ve made the wrong choice on setting up your organisation, you can find out how to change to another one.
Speakers will also cover some of the pitfalls into which voluntary and community groups sometimes fall, how to avoid them and what to do if you have already fallen.
If you do go along, don’t forget to say where you heard about it.
