On Wednesday, following initially vague replies to our questions, Eurovia finally confirmed to OnTheWight that not only were they purchasing asphalt from Bardon Vectis’ Blackwater plant, but also that “Eurovia have no plans to buy-out Bardon Vectis or Aggregate Industries.”
The anti-asphalt plant campaigning group Wight Residents Against Asphalt Plant (WRAP) have been in touch with OnTheWight this morning to share their views on the news.
“Work together for the good of the Island”
A spokesperson said,
“Following confirmation this week from Eurovia that they are currently buying materials from Bardon Vectis, WRAP wish to announce they would welcome a permanent asphalt supply solution based upon the use of the existing established plant at Blackwater Down.
“WRAP urge both companies to continue to work together for the good of the Island, the health of its residents and the successful performance of the Highways PFI Contract.
“Best wishes to all concerned for an Island-friendly outcome where good roads are provided and all contractors receive reasonable profits together with improved customer perception.”
