Audit Report and Precept To Be Discussed at Next Ventnor Town Council Meeting

Those who made their way to the Winter Gardens yesterday evening expecting to ask the town council questions and hear discussions surrounding the 2010 precept walked away disappointed.

Audit Report To Be Discussed at Next Town Council MeetingA late change to the agenda at the end of last week meant that the meeting had reverted to being just Plans, so no public questions were allowed on non-planning issues.

We’ll have to wait another week for that. We’re told that the next meeting will take place on Monday 1st February.

Although this won’t be a full Town Council meeting (that takes place on the 8th February), councillors will be discussing the recently published Audit report. We have several articles to come on the contents of the report (hopefully before next Monday’s meeting) and expect there will be many public questions.

As we’ve said many times before, the Ventnor town council meetings can sometime be better than the latest drama on the box.

As the meetings have recently been subject to change at short notice, it’s always worth checking the listing on Events on the Wight which also shows the full agenda.

Well done Labour ! It’s good to know the party-political voting on this: so much for Dave Stewart and UKIP.
I know that Chris Whitehouse left the chamber at one point but was he there for this vote ?

No, he left the chamber at around 6pm and never returned.

Presumably he needed to get home to London.

Cllr Whitehouse seems to thnk that decibels are a substitute for putting in the hours. He rants on about other councillors’ right to their allowances, yet when his own record is exposed – as it is again today – you can hardly hear yourself speak. As it happens, when he should have been at last night’s meeting, he was, in fact, Tweeting about one of his outside… Read more »

To be fair to Cllr Stewart, that’s an awfully big ego of his he has to carry around with him.

Rod. Many local Labour party activists have been of Jeremy’s viewpoint for many, many years. 32 years in my case. At last, from a week Saturday, I could be proud to be a member, rather than just gritting my teeth and thinking we are the best of a bad bunch !

Re: Corbyn…..why would you want a leader of the labour party like him, who will be the death nail of your party?

That reminds me of some recent Private Eye number crunching: 200,000 members left Labour during the prime ministership of (war criminal?) Tony Blair, who warns that electing JC leader would mean ‘annihalation’ of the party; 411,000 Members and registered supporters who have joined labour since the general election, many of them specifically to support JC for leader. JC is one of those offering something more appealing than… Read more »
