On Wednesday 4th May, between 2pm and 7pm, BBC South and BBC Radio Solent will making their way down Ventnor to broadcast live from the town.
Capturing Ventnor’s Community Spirit
There are countless examples of the Ventnor community pulling together in times of difficulty or working together to improve the lives of those living or visiting the town. The BBC have recognised this and want to capture Ventnor’s Community Spirit on film during an afternoon of celebration.
Head to the green on Dudley Road and you’ll be welcomed by an afternoon of entertainment and activities, featuring live music, things for the kids to do as well as stalls (over 45, we hear) from many of the town’s local community organisations.
Why the short notice?
The BBC approached the Ventnor Town Council (VTC) because they’d identified Ventnor as somewhere that ‘exhibits a tangible sense of community spirit’. Hurrah!
It’s meant that the event has had to be pulled together at fairly short notice, but there’s nothing Ventnorians like better than a challenge.
This event will give the town’s community groups and organisations the perfect opportunity to showcase Ventnor.
Where and when
So tell your family and friends and make sure you head to the green in front of Salisbury Gardens, Dudley Road, Ventnor between 2-7pm on Wednesday 4th May.
You might even end up on TV!
We love the poster created for the event by the very talented Luke Bridgeman.
