There are tons of things going on in Ryde over the next week as part of the Ryde Festival and we’ll be bringing you more info on the Blog over the next few days.
One event that made my ears prick up, is the beach soccer game between the England squad and the Council’s Fostering Service.
They must be brave souls to take on one of the greatest beach soccer teams in the world, for the England team recently beat former European champions Hungary 5 – 1 in the Euro Beach Soccer League held in Greece (I’m keeping schtum about the match with Poland)
The game forms part of a sponsorship deal agreed with the Fostering Service and England Beach Soccer earlier in the spring.
Manager of Isle of Wight Council’s Fostering Service Dave Crewe said “Everyone involved in fostering on the Island faces challenges every day, but I don’t think any of us imagined we would be taking on the national beach soccer team!. Whatever happens though, it will be a great day and I know everyone involved will have great fun”.
Should be a brilliant match to watch, they’ll be entertainment and music to keep everyone happy during the intervals.
Kick off is at 4.30pm on the new purpose built pitch on Ryde Esplanade.
