This in from the council. Well done to all who work at the facility for their excellent work! Ed
An Isle of Wight Council run centre that provides respite services for children has been given an outstanding rating by Ofsted inspectors.
Beaulieu House in Newport, which was opened in 2004 by HM The Queen and provides care for up to 40 young people with complex needs, was subject to an unannounced inspection in August this year.
The report rates Beaulieu House as outstanding in every category.
Inspectors reported how the centre provides outstanding respite care to young people with complex needs and staff are experienced and committed and have a great understanding of the needs of users.
Good communication
Staff have good communication with parents which had led to greater consistency in the delivery of care in different settings, while it was apparent young people have extremely good relationships with their tutors.
Inspectors also noted how parents described the home as ‘fantastic’ and ‘excellent’ and that the care needs of each young person is clearly identified prior to admission.
Carol Behenna, Team Manager at Beaulieu House, says the report is brilliant news. She said “All the staff are delighted with the recent Ofsted inspection which is a reflection of the dedication and hard work shown by staff and young people on a daily basis.
“It is very satisfying that the inspectors were very impressed with what they saw and we are continuing to work together to provide a much needed service to children and families on the Island”
Isle of Wight Council Cabinet member for Children’s Services Dawn Cousins said “Beaulieu House is a very important facility on the Island and one that provides key services to young people with very specific needs. This report demonstrates that users are getting the very best level of support available to them.
“This excellent news is fully deserved by all those at Beaulieu House and I offer my congratulations and gratitude on this great achievement.”
