Yesterday (Monday 1st July) saw the Coroner’s inquest take place on the Isle of Wight for the tragic death of Daniel Parks, the 35 year old who died at the 2012 Bestival at Robin Hill Country Park last September.
According to a Daily Mirror report of the inquest, Mr Parks was found by his wife locked in the toilet of their campervan. He had slashed his arms several times after taking what he believed to be ‘legal highs’.
Isle of Wight Coroner Caroline Sumeray stated that Mr Parks had purchased the ‘legal highs’ via the Internet before attending the festival.

The ‘Magic Crystals’ he consumed on the Thursday were believed to contain 4-Methylethcathinone, a prohibited substance.
He is thought to have suffered a paranoid reaction as a result of the ‘legal highs’.
Ms Sumeray is reported as saying,
“Daniel’s wife discovered Daniel in a state of distress and summoned help. Daniel was taken to St Mary’s Hospital where efforts were made to resuscitate him, however he died of hypovolaemic shock secondary to deep cuts to both lower arms at 10.32 am on September 9, 2012.”
Our thoughts go out to Daniel’s family and friends.
