You might already know that each year in the UK, October is Black History Month.
Diversity is sparse on the island, so it’s encouraging to see that schools and associations are helping to promote the aims of Black History Month.
There are lots of events on the island and Ventnor has its own contribution to make.
The Broadway Centre, Sandown, are hosting a weekend of African drum, song and dance performed by Souleymane Compo and Company, which takes place on Saturday, 22 October, and Sunday, 23 October .
The group will also run drum classes at Ventnor Youth and Community Centre on Wednesday, 26 October, and again at the Broadway Centre the following day.
Go down to show your support and appreciation of all those involved.
