Back in May VentnorBlog broke the news that the Isle of Wight council was proposing selling off the Blackgang Viewpoint Car Park.
Despite a huge outcry, the Isle of Wight council – even its chief executive Steve Beynon – flatly refused to answer legitimate questions about it, further inflaming the situation.
The answers to those questions are still being blocked by Steve Beynon despite many Islanders writing to him about it.
Interested party revealed
Well, the party that is interested in buying it has now been revealed.
The council’s Forward Plan (below) includes a new entry on page six – “Agreement to Discuss with the Owner of Blackgang Chine Likely Terms for its Possible Acquisition of Blackgang View Point Car Park”.
Agreement to Discuss
The original document discovered back in May said the council were “In negotiation with special purchaser”, so it’s unclear how that squares with proposing an “Agreement to Discuss”.
It’s also unclear if the Reason for Sale, as was given in the original document as “To protect local tourism”, still stands.
The recent papers say the decision will be made by “Cabinet Member – by end of August 2012”. The Cabinet member responsible is Cllr George Brown.
Background papers are listed as “IW Core Strategy”.
