A new gallery space in Sandown is set to launch at the end of October with a month long residency by contemporary Island Artists’ Adrienne Wroath and Joanne Hummel-Newell.
Boojum&Snark is an inspiring new gallery space which aims to create an exhilarating blend of art, culture and design and help revitalise the Bay area.
During their residency, Jo and Adrienne (both of whom recently exhibited at the HomeGrown Arts Event as part of the Ryde Arts Festival) will be using a variety of drawing, sculpture, installation and film to create an engaging and unique art exhibition using Sandown’s architecture, beach culture and importantly the community as inspiration.
“This is in part about reconnecting with our environment and so we aim to produce artwork which listens to the community and brings a sense of pride and belonging.” states Joanne Hummel-Newell.
“Sandown is regarded by many as a tacky bucket and spade resort yet everywhere are glimpses of its decadent Victorian past. The idea of Charm and Trove is to seamlessly intertwine these and create something new and beautiful’ says Adrienne Wroath
There will be a Drinks Launch on Friday 30th October from 7pm to which all are welcome and the Exhibition runs from Saturday 31st October – Saturday 21st November.
The gallery will be open Thursday to Sundays.
There is a Free Family Workshop Open Day on Saturday 31st October between 12pm – 4pm.
Venue: Boojum&Snark, 105 High Street, Sandown PO36 8AF
