Good news for anyone who wants to get involved with a Community Choir. This in from Sue Birch in her own words. Ed
Brading needed something to raise our spirits, so a Community Choir has been formed.
We had our first meeting on Tuesday evening last week at Brading Town Hall where 34 people attended. Some travelled from other areas on the Island, we were amazed!
Our first rehearsal went very well, with excellent leadership from choirmaster James Gurd.
Community piano donated
A few weeks ago, a piano was sourced, this piano was kindly donated to us and will be a community piano, and is now housed in Brading New Town Hall, where the choir meets every Tuesday at 7:15pm (apart from a one off tomorrow – 3rd April where we will meet in St Mary’s Church at 7:15pm).
We now need to source a piano stool, so we would love to hear from anyone who has one going spare!
Open to all
The choir is open to all ages groups, particularly men, as we need more male voices! There is no requirement to read music, and you do not need to be a Brading resident to join.
The Official launch of the Community Choir is hoped to take place during Brading’s, Queens Diamond Jubilee Celebrations on the 4th June 2012.
