Independent Arts, an Island charity who work with people from disadvantaged backgrounds across the Island, was broken into on Easter Sunday.
The break-in at the Shide property occurred around 4.30pm, when the thieves smashed a window and stole a collecting tin and a laptop. We’re told that an eye-witness saw someone running away.
Police confirm that forensic enquiries are being carried out.
Detective Sergeant Gary Lyons of Isle of Wight CID said, “We are concerned about recent reports of burglaries affecting charities and good causes in the community.”
Callous disregard
“Whoever was responsible has shown a callous disregard and lack of compassion for the selfless efforts made on behalf of those who are vulnerable and in need on the Island.
“I would like to take this opportunity to call on the public for their ongoing support with any information on people or suspicious behaviour linked to burglaries.”
