An addition to the articles published last night (Monday) on forthcoming budget cuts.
We’ve now seen the full Isle of Wight council cut proposals which have just been outlined in preparation of the December Cabinet Meeting.
Here’s what they say about the Heritage Services …
The Council has thee museums and a wide range of archive material (some of which is not in adequate storage).
Much of this is not practical to display / store and so alternative storage / display will need to be considered, probably by an external facility.
A consultation will be held in 2011 to seek views on the practical alternatives and how access to materials will be enabled with the aim of reducing costs by £50,000 in 2011/12 and £200,000 in a full year (2012/13).
This will include seeking an alternative provider to manage Newport Roman Villa, in line with what is proposed below for two other facilities.
