Cafe Scientifique: Garry Momber On Mesolithic Village Under The Solent

Thanks to Pam for this reminder about next week’s Cafe Scientifique meeting. For those of you note at last month’s meeting, please note the change of venue. Ed

Garry MomberThe fifth meeting of the season will take place on Monday 13th February (starting at 7pm).

Our speaker this month is Garry Momber, Director of The Hampshire and Wight Trust for Maritime Archaeology.

Garry will be talking about “The Unique Stratified Mesolithic site at Bouldnor Cliff”.

This excavation has demonstrated the huge potential to add to our knowledge of early humans and the environment in which they were living and to investigate climatic and sea level changes in the past.

Change of venue
Please note that we’ve had to change our venue, due to outgrowing the Fighting Cocks pub. The management were concerned about health and safety because of the numbers, and that we were beginning to disrupt the dining facilities in the rest of the pub.

Unfortunately, we have not been able as yet to find anywhere more central and suitable, but are open to suggestions.

In the meantime, we will be the Regency Suite above the Shanklin Conservative Club at least until and including June this year.
