The fourth meeting of the 2011/12 season will be on Monday evening next week (16th January).
The meeting this month welcomes Professor Jim Smith from the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Portsmouth University.
He’ll be talking about “Is the Future Nuclear?”.
Having studied the environmental consequences of the Chernobyl accident with regard to the impact of ionising radiation on organisms in the natural environment, Jim is now involved with the Fukushima disaster.
As always, Cafe Scientifique evenings are free, but it is customary to ask participants at the end of the evening for a donation towards the cost of the speaker’s meal and/or travel expenses.
