Ventnor Town Council are seeking a local artist to help smarten up the frontage of the former amusement arcade on the seafront.
The site has planning permission for a stunning property that will certainly improve the street scene when it’s completed, but delays in getting things signed off means that work hasn’t begun on the site yet.
Panels to cover the frontage
Ventnor Town Council have got permission from the owner to install 14 panels of plain boarding (each measuring 2.1m by 1.8m) that will cover the whole of the current frontage.
The councillors are now seeking a local artist willing to design and implement a suitable mural for the boards to change the view of this part of the Esplanade in advance of the high season.
A ‘labour of love’
This will be a ‘labour of love’ for the artist, but materials including paint will be supplied.
Any artists interested are asked to call the Deputy Mayor, Steph Toogood on 07525 662 555.
Your calling card
As work is not likely to start on the development for a couple of years, say the VTC, this mural could be a great calling card for the chosen artist for at least the next few summers.
The Ventnor Giant mural, commissioned by Ventnor Exchange and the Lift the Lid Project, is still looking great several years after being painted by street artist, Phlegm.
