Third time lucky. After the loss of the 2020 event due to Covid and the 2021 event due to the weather, the Isle of Wight Marlins Master Swim Club are presenting the 2022 Pier2Pier Charity Swim Challenge on Saturday 30th July 2022.
With a 12.15pm start from the beach alongside Sandown Pier, there will be 150 swimmers, many of them who have been waiting these three years to accept the challenge of swimming 1.8 km across the Bay to finish on the beach outside Shanklin/Sandown Rowing Club.
This finish point is chosen because it is where the original finish at the Shanklin Pier stood, until it was destroyed in the 1986 storms.
Call for kayakers or canoeists
We are now requesting any kayakers or canoeists who can assist as our first line of safety craft to paddle with the swimmers.
Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat the Ryde Inshore Rescue, plus members of the Shanklin Deep Sea Fishermen will be in attendance.
If you are able to assist please e-mail Andrew at: [email protected] or call Bob Cooper on 07846438909.

The breakdown of entrants are, 83 women, 67 men, with 107 in swim costumes and 43 in wetsuits.
