With the likes of Roy Ayers, PJ Harvey and Candi Staton already confirmed for Camp Bestival, you’d think it couldn’t get any better but then Rob Da Bank goes and confirms that Kid Creole & The Coconuts are going to be shaking their maracas and tambourines onto stage to headline the family festival’s Friday night in July this year.
‘Annie I’m not your Daddy’ and ‘Stool Pigeon’ helped Kid Creole rise to fame in the 1980s and the band is still going strong. We’re looking forward to some of that classic brass action to get the party going on Friday night.
Rob da Bank is over the moon:
“The sun has got his hat on and I’m down at Camp Bestival HQ singing along to ‘Stool Pigeon’ and ‘Don’t Take Away My Coconuts’! Why? Because we’ve only gone and landed Kid Creole & The Coconuts to headline Friday night at Camp Bestival. I booked him for Bestival a couple of years back and he smashed it with one of the tightest bands and razzle dazzle performances I’ve booked. It was like Prince meets George Clinton on a desert island … and he’s coming to Dorset!”
If you can’t wait til July to catch a bit of Coconut action, then check out this video of Lifeboat Party. They sure know how to put on a show.
