If you’re not familiar with the elections for the vacancy of Ventnor West Town Councillor, as far as the research that we’ve been able to carry out goes, with information coming from NALC (the National Association For Local Councils), it appears that this is the most highly contested vacancy in living memory.
We also understand that no other town in the UK has given it’s local Town Council election the same kind of coverage that is planned on VentnorBlog, profiles, interviews, forum boards etc.
If you weren’t aware, over on the forum we have created a board called Candidates Corner. Here you will be able to pose up to two questions that the candidates have agreed to answer.
A number of questions have already been posted and replies are starting to come in from the candidates.
You’ll need to read the guidelines before posting, but they are pretty straightforward.
As I say in that posting, let’s remember that these people are putting themselves forward as volunteers for the Town Council – this is not Westminster and they are not politicians.
We’ve already had a couple of national publications interested in both the uniqueness of the number of candidates standing, as well as the planned coverage of the elections.
For those living in the Ventnor West ward, polling day is Thursday 13th between 7-10pm at the Ventnor Winter Gardens and we’ll be covering the count live and should have results published by 11pm.
