The Members-only club, Casati House in Ryde has closed.
All members received an email today from Casati’s proprietor, Joseph Kohn, titled, “Casati has left the building………….”
“Decadence, Glamour and Excess!”
The email contained a single graphic that read, “Thank you for the past 8 years of Decadence, Glamour and Excess!”
Casati House opened in 2007 and wasn’t without controversy after many mistook it for a Gentleman’s club, ie a thinly-veiled brothel. It proved to be nothing of the sort, becoming a popular Members club which, through its lavish interior; gregarious host and renowned parties, built a list of passionate members and supporters.
Member’s reactions, “a little overwhelming”
OnTheWight spoke to Joseph this afternoon, who told us that the building had sold and commented:
“Feedback from members today has been a little overwhelming. Even people who just came as guest have been in touch to say they feel slightly lost, after hearing the news.
“I want to recreate some of the magic again on the Island – so I’m looking for something else – but it’s got to be at the right scale. The place had got to deliver the high end.”
