Today (8th June) is World Ocean Day, a time to celebrate and take action to help protect out oceans.
At 6pm today (Thursday) Isle of Wight environmental group Planet Aware will be leading a Walk and nurdle (plastic pellets) hunt from Brook NT car Park to Compton. The event aimed to raise awareness of plastic pollution is free to attend, but you need to book in advance.
Cowes survey
Red Funnel recently joined Planet Aware to conduct a beach health survey at Cowes Beach and support the group in preventing plastic pollution.
Red Funnel’s Sustainability Officer, Lee Howes, who leads the ferry company’s renewed ESG strategy, Changing Tides, said,
“We all must play our part in reducing our environmental impact and enhancing and managing our social and economic impact, and we’re pleased to continue working with Planet Aware to help make a positive impact on the environment and the Island community.”
