The Cowes chain ferry will be out of service between 8am and 8pm on Tuesday 3 November so its chains can be renewed.
Every two years, the chains must be replaced to ensure the service continues to run.
The bridge will be taken out of service from 8am when a passenger launch will be in place for pedestrians and cyclists until 8pm. The 40p passenger return fare will remain in place. Vehicles will be diverted via Newport.
The chain ferry will be back in service from 8pm on Tuesday evening subject to the maintenance being completed on time. It will operate a normal service on Wednesday 4 November.
The council apologises for any disruption this required maintenance may cause.
