Chale Green has been put firmly on the map… thanks to local sculptor and general “Mr Fixit”, Dave Badman.
Dave is pictured fitting the new map of the village, drawn by Isle of Wight cartoonist Rupert Besley, and including information about the Chale Trail walk and village facilities and landmarks.
The map stand has been located on Chale Green common land on the roadside in front of the former village shop.
Cycle hub relocated
Meanwhile, the Chale cycle hub, which was “evicted ” by the shop landowner, has been relocated inside the now disused bus shelter alongside the site.
Village charity
Chale Parish Council chairman, Cllr Ron Groves, said,
“We’re so grateful to Dave for the marvellous information map and we hope cyclists, who are now unable to take a coffee and cake stop at the shop’s cafe, can still benefit from the hub provided by a village charity.”
