CHAMPS get rave reviews for headline gig

Isle of Wight band CHAMPS played their first headline gig to a sold out audience last week in London.

Although the Niton brothers have played plenty of gigs in London, around the UK and as far away as Berlin, last week’s gig was the first where they were the headline act.

Michael and David Champion were supported by Tom Gardner on percussion, Jon McMullen on keyboard and Antony Truckell on bass.

New tracks
As well as tracks from their debut album, Down Like Gold, the band played two brand new, previously unheard tracks. We managed to hear about five or six tracks before having to shoot off to see another Isle of Wight band, Plastic Mermaids, play a but further north in Stoke Newington.

The band attracted some great reviews, including one on The Independent Website the day after the gig, which has gone into print today.

And there’s more
The Line of Best Fit – who were streaming the new album on their Website last month – also had praise to shower on the lads.

Not only that, London in Stereo were also at the gig, taking shots of the band as they played. You can see their ace gallery on the London in Stereo Website.

Champing at the bit
If you haven’t had a chance to see CHAMPS play live yet, they’ve got six gigs lined up in the next few weeks in Brighton, Leeds, Bristol and Manchester as well as France and Belgium.

You can find out more and order your copy of Down Like Gold from the official CHAMPS Website

Down Like Gold is currently number three in the HMV Southampton chart!
