The Isle of Wight’s eight children’s centres will close for ten days at the beginning of April as part of a transition to a new provider.
In late 2014, Barnardo’s was chosen to provide new 0 to 19 Early Help services for the council, which includes the centres.
The centres will be closed between 1 and 10 April to allow Barnardo’s to train staff and install necessary equipment, although some centres may open at set times for health services. Users should contact their local centre for health service opening times.
All eight centres will be open as normal from Monday 13 April.
Which centres affected
The centres are currently based in Cowes, East Cowes, Ryde, The Bay area, Ventnor and West Wight, with a further two based in East and West Newport.
Children’s Centres offer families who have children under five years old a range of services, information and support in their local community. These include family and parenting support, play sessions, training courses and advice during pregnancy.
