Charity fashion raises £2,400 for Ability Dogs for Young People

The woof was raised at charity fashion show!

Over 200 people enjoyed an autumn winter fashion show from Bellissima and Sugar and Spice Lingerie last week. Needing a bigger venue due to demand for the biannual event, the two Ryde boutiques relocated their event to the Ocean View Hotel in Shanklin. The chosen charity this time was Ability Dogs for Young People.

Several puppies and their parents took to the “cat”walk whilst Carol Court, the founder and CEO explained what the charity does and how the funds raised from the evening would be used.

A right royal pearly cabaret
Once the puppies had strutted their stuff, guests were treated to a right royal pearly cabaret from mum and daughter Paula and Georgie Johnson known as Just Us Duo.

They were joined on this occasion by Charles Johnson, Georgie’s brother, singing some good old cockney classics.

24 models took to the catwalk
The 24 models then took to the catwalk, showcasing the best outfits for autumn from Joe Browns, Goose Island, Alice Collins and London Fashion. There was also a selection of fabulous evening dresses just perfect for the upcoming Christmas party season. All can be found in Bellissima in Union Street, Ryde.

From Sugar & Spice there was swimwear, nightwear from Cyberjammies and luxury brand Oh Zuza. Lingerie ranged from everyday sets, bright autumn fashion colours and sexier styles from well known brands such as Chantelle, Fantasie, Elomi, Panache and Gossard to name a few.

Something for everyone
All in all 144 outfits were shown and as Sheila Wilson, owner of Sugar & Spice, explained,

“There is something in both of our shops for everyone, all ages and all sizes.

“We are a good destination for Christmas shopping for all the ladies in your family from gran to daughter to wife to daughter in law.”

Tina Lettington, owner of Bellissima said,

“We went bigger and better with the production of our show this time, its been a lot of hard work, but we feel its been worth it.

“Feedback from our customers has been absolutely incredible. It was a fun filled evening and professional.”

£2,404 raised
The evening concluded with a raffle. Shopping was enjoyed the following day with all ticket holders entitled to a discount in both shops.

The grand total of £2,402 has been raised and is on its way to the charity. Look out for details of the next sought after event likely taking place in April 2025.
