Last Friday evening, Islanders gathered at Medina Theatre to pay tribute to the late, great, Gloria Minghella.
Known for her decades of charitable work and patron of the arts, it was fitting that the concert in Gloria’s honour raised much-needed funds for two charities, Care for Destitute Children in India and the St Mary’s Hospital Juba Link Appeal.
Peter Back, who shares some of his of photos from the event, told OnTheWight,
“The concert featured an amazing selection of Island talent and included choirs and fantastic solo performances.
“Jack Roberts received an extended standing ovation for his superb performance of ‘Bring Him Home’ from Les Miserables and after a technical glitch with the sound system, Harriet Back (15 years) proved that she was a true professional by continuing the second half of her solo, ‘I’m Not That Girl’ from the musical Wicked, acapella. The audience were enthralled and rewarded her with huge applause.”
Choirs taking part in the event included ‘Resonate’, ‘The Medina Community Choir’ and the ‘NHS Nightingales’ all lead by Hannah Brear.
