It’s almost time for the return of the Isle of Wight Children’s Festival – two fun-packed days when families can gather in St Thomas’s Square, Newport to engage young minds.
On Thursday and Friday this week get involved in the fun activities and watch all the offbeat shows the Festival has to offer.
Come along and get your little ones involved, because organisers, Ventnor Exchange, believe that even the tiniest minds can be influenced by inventive ways to produce and develop ideas of art, design and performance.
Organiser, Mhairi Macaulay, explained,
“We have included as many types of art forms as we could, like puppet shows and outdoor performances, storytelling, arts and crafts, dance and even opportunities to learn about preserving Island history!
“And don’t even think about missing out on the Giant Pigeons!”
Ticketed shows
Venues include the Apollo Theatre which will be hosting Lyngo Theatre’s Puss in Boots and Indigo Moon Theatre’s shadow puppetry Mermarella – a Cinderella story of the Sea, St Thomas Square with The Lost Colour, performed entirely on top of the Puppet Van.
Waterstones will be presenting local authors like Neal Layton and Jules Marriner, as well as professional storyteller Sue Bailey, and the IW Youth Trust, Independent Arts and the Museum of Island History as well as other businesses will be taking part in the Festival too.
