A concerned mum of a Christ The King College pupil got in touch with VentnorBlog today. Her mail centred on the cost of embroidered blouses that Christ The King are insisting on. They must be bought from a company called Simmonds, which is based in Kent.
She wrote …
School uniforms!! A lot of the parents are complaining of the cost. A girl’s school blouse, size 36 is going to cost me £20. I think the prices are extortionate. I can’t afford the uniform. A lot of parents are on Income Support.
The school have said there is a scheme that you can have a loan to help pay for it. I feel that schools need to be exposed for making parents buy the uniform they want by the stockists they want. You must buy from Simmonds, with the specialised logo.
Cowes Enterprise College reacted to their parents
Back in June this year Cowes Enterprise College reacted to similar concerns raised by parents by scrapping the need for shirts/blouses to be embroidered.
The college reacted quickly, sympathising with the parents at the costs, dropping the need for the shirts/blouses to be embroidered.
This simple act opened the parents up to a whole host of suppliers, thus lower prices.
We wrote to Christ the King, but at the time of publishing, they have failed to respond.
