Thanks to Linda for letting VB readers know about this launch taking place next month. Ed
The Garlic Farm is delighted to welcome celebrated author, cook and passionate supporter of rural life, Clarissa Dickson Wright, to perform the official opening ceremony of the new Education & Heritage Centres which have been created recently as part of the The Garlic Farm Shop and Cafe in Newchurch.
The Education and Heritage Centres have been added to the existing facilities at The Garlic Farm to enhance our visitors’ experiences whilst they are with us.
What do the centres offer?
The Heritage Centre offers not only the history of garlic and The Garlic Farm itself but also Island history and the area surrounding the Farm within the Arreton Valley. It is housed in an early 19th century barn which has been carefully refurbished, retaining original features.
The Education Centre is a multi-purpose area, constructed specifically to offer both adults and children an inter-active experience to learn and discover all about garlic. Visits can be tailor-made for groups of differing interests such as growing, cooking, environment, archaeology and history.
Enjoy the nearby farm walk
Alongside this building is The Farm Walk, where visitors can stroll through the fields and woodland, learning about the flora and fauna, wildlife and specific archaeological sites.
If you’d like to see Clarissa officially open the new centres, pop along to the Garlic Farm on 14th June for a noon start.
