It’s with great sadness that we hear this morning that Clement Freud passed away yesterday at the age of 84 years old.
The grandson of famous psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud, Clement was known during his early career as one of the first ‘celebrity chefs’ and many will remember his appearance on TV adverts for Minced Morsels, sporting the famous ‘hangdog’ expression he shared with Henry the bloodhound.
He moved into politics in the 1970s and between 1973 and 1987 was the Liberal MP for North East Cambridgeshire.
Clement Freud was better known to us for his appearances on the BBCR4 programme Just A Minute, hosted by Nicholas Parsons. He made his first appearance on the radio show in 1967 and took part in every series since.
He certainly achieved a great deal in his lifetime and will be sorely missed by those who worked with him, as well as those who appreciated his deadpan humour via the radio waves.
Rest in Peace Clement Freud.
