Isle of Wight councillor David Whittaker was released from bail on 5 May and told that no further action would be taken – we read in the CP.
VB has learnt today that he has rejoined the Island’s Conservative Group (further detail below).
David Whittaker was arrested last October over alleged sex offences. No formal charges were ever made in this case.
This week Cllr Whittaker spoke to the CP saying, “During the period of investigations over the past seven months it has been very stressful for the whole family.
“Over the period I have fully co-operated with the police during their investigations, which have been, on occasions, very harrowing, and I do not wish to go into detail.”
Return to the Island Conservative Group
Back in October the Island Conservative Group told VB that Cllr Whittaker had stepped down as a member of the Conservative Group while investigations took place.
We’ve contacted the leader of the Island Conservative Group, Cllr David Pugh, this morning and heard that Cllr Whittaker’s application to re-join was accepted last night.
