Community Bus drivers needed. Just occasionally!
Thanks to a grant from the Isle of Wight Council, the 16-seater Bonchurch and Ventnor Community No.31 Bus replaced WightBus No 31 in September.
It has rapidly become a well-used and much appreciated link for many residents. It doesn’t go far or fast, but loops out from the town centre around pretty, quiet, twisting back roads and the occasional beach front.
The bus runs Monday to Friday from 9.45am to 12.45pm, with a 10-minute break between each of the three runs.
Volunteer drivers needed
The regular driver would greatly appreciate an occasional break but needs a qualified PSV(PCV) relief driver.
If community service like this appeals, then please contact us.
Driving dates could be fixed in advance, or “emergency” cover would also be appreciated. Any offer of help however limited could probably be accommodated.
Almost all the winter passengers have bus passes so there are few fares/tickets involved. “Familiarisation” runs would be available with the regular driver, and relief drivers could also be accompanied by someone who knows the route well (but doesn’t have a PCV licence).
