Isle of Wight Council has appointed a new Director of Legal & Democratic Services. Davina Fiore joins the council from a similar position with the London Fire & Emergency Planning Authority which covers the whole of the capital.
Davina Fiore is no stranger to the Island having worked for Isle of Wight Council in early 2001 as Interim Legal Services Manager. She has also held senior management positions at Ealing Council where she was Director of Legal & Democratic Services, as well as Haringey Council. During her time at Haringey she helped lead the successful delivery of a £10m IT project that was completed on time and within the budget.
A qualified solicitor, Miss Fiore is also experienced in planning and employment law, decision making processes, participating in policy making and training and briefing councillors. She is due to begin her new role at Isle of Wight Council on 10 December 2007.
Speaking of her new role, Davina said “I am looking forward to working for Isle of Wight Council again and can’t wait to begin in December. I have many fond memories from my time at County Hall six years ago and the Island as a whole. This is a challenge I relish and I will be joining during what is an exciting time for the authority.”
Isle of Wight Council Chief Executive Joe Duckworth said “Davina has an excellent track record in legal and democratic services as well as a vast range of experience. Her appointment will benefit not just the council but also Island residents and I look forward to welcoming Davina into her new role”.
