The first and most noticeable amount of money spent on council credit cards VB revealed today is to the ferry companies.
Looking at the Merchants view of the credit card data on Armchair Auditor we can see the amounts spent by the council officers and councillors as Wightlink at £143,307 and Red Funnel at £123,844 leap off the top of the list. To find Hovertravel you’ll have to use the search feature (top right) – that comes in at an additional £14,950.
Nearly £300,000 spent by Isle of Wight council staff on their credit cards in just three years.
That’s ~£100,000 spent on Solent travel every year.
That’s an average of ~£400 spent each and every working day over those three years.
