Council start to release highways PFI contractual documents

At the first highways PFI public meeting held at the beginning of November, the Isle of Wight council informed residents that they’d release all contractual documents in the following two weeks.

Nearly three weeks later, On The Wight reader James Luke, questioned why the documents still hadn’t been released.

Some documents now released
The council informed On The Wight at the end of last week that some of the documents were now in the public domain. For your convenience, we’ve embedded them below.

A spokesperson for the council said,

As you are aware, these documents contain some redactions to remove commercially sensitive information. The contract and its annexes and appendices are large in number and are therefore being uploaded in stages. The main body of the contract is being uploaded first and can be found here – the remaining schedules and annexures will be uploaded by Monday 17 December at the latest.

“Why it has taken so long?”
We got in touch with James Luke to inform him of the publication of the documents, he told On The Wight, “I’m disappointed that they haven’t published the definitions up front as interpreting any legal document without definitions is impossible.”

He went on to say, “My immediate observation is that I still can’t understand why it has taken so long to upload eight files to a Web site and I hope that they Council will publish the remaining files very quickly.”

Inspect the documents
Those documents that have already been made public by the council can be found below, there’s certainly a lot to wade through.
