Charity night aims to help homeless

The Beach Hut Cafe in Bembridge are holding their first charity night on 19th December, where they aim to raise money for two Island homeless causes.

Emma Guy from the Cafe tells us, “The Open Arms Project in Ryde who provide food and shelter on a Sunday night at Ryde Methodist Church Hall started in April 2011 feeding 20 people and now they feed up to 60. It’s voluntarily run by a group of about 40.”

She says that the Cafe supports the project by donating leftover food when they can and have wanted to do something else to help, so this seems the perfect opportunity.

Helping homeless families
The second cause for the fundraising event will be Yarborough House, a hostel in Sandown that helps homeless families.

Emma says, “Many of the children will never have had a Christmas lunch or received a present. Our charity evening is a not for profit night which will raise funds for both causes and be split 50/50.”

Tickets on sale now
Tickets for the event are £10 which includes their special ‘mock’ mulled wine with canapés and nibbles provided by The Beach Hut.

Tickets are on sale via the Cafe or can be reserved by calling 07832 127737.

Ghostly stories and more ….
Marc Tucky of the IW Ghost Experience will be donating his time to do a ghostly story telling session, JMC hire have donated a toilet and Coast and Country marquees are donating a small marquee for the night.

Kids are welcome and although don’t need to purchase £10 tickets, a small donation will be expected.

It all takes place between 6pm – 8.30pm at the cafe on Wednesday 19th December.
