Southern Water is carrying out important updates to its underground Medina Pumping Station in Cowes.
The £600,000 investment near the Thetis Wharf slipway in Cowes, know locally as Medina slipway, will ensure the sewer network continues to run efficiently and is able to cope with increased wastewater flows.
Alternative slipway nearby
The slipway is expected to be closed for the duration of the work but an alternative slipway is available at nearby Watch House Lane.
The work is due to be completed by May 2012.
Southern Water Project Manager Richard May said: “We appreciate that these improvements may cause some short-term disruption for people who use the slipway and those living nearby but the work will also bring significant long-term benefits.
“We thank customers for their patience while the work is under way and promise to make sure that any disruption is kept to a minimum.”
Southern Water’s supplier Clancy Docwra is carrying out the work.
