Cowes Week Limited is delighted to welcome the RNLI as one of the Official Charities for the 2024 edition of the Regatta. They will be joining the Tall Ships Youth Trust who became an official charity partner in 2023.
The RNLI, the charity that saves lives at sea, will be celebrating their 200th anniversary in 2024.
24/7 rescues
RNLI lifeboat crews protect hundreds of communities around the UK and Ireland through their search and rescue service with RNLI lifeboat crews ready to answer the call to rescue 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The RNLI team from the Cowes Lifeboat Station will be in attendance for the duration of the regatta on the Parade Regatta Village hosting a number of activities for visitors and competitors. Details of activities will be available closer to the Regatta.
Trimble: Proud to associate the Regatta with the RNLI
Bob Trimble, Chairman of Cowes Week Ltd and Cowes Combined Clubs commented,
“We’re proud to associate the Regatta with the RNLI and its staff and crews in such a significant year for them.
“We’re especially pleased that the Cowes Station will be represented on the Parade so that we’ll all have the opportunity to express our gratitude to them for their amazing volunteer support for us all.”
Johnson: To be named an official charity partner is a real honour
Claire Johnson, Fundraising and Partnerships Lead South East for the RNLI said,
“We have always been immensely proud of our involvement with and support for Cowes Week, and to be named an official charity partner in the same year that we mark two centuries of saving lives at sea is a real honour.
“Every time our volunteer crews launch to prevent someone drowning, they do so thanks to donations from our supporters.
“We are delighted that as well as being able to support a wonderful event like the regatta, the support we receive from those involved will allow us to continue to train our volunteers, provide kit for them and, ultimately, to save more lives.”
