If you’ve been along Ryde High Street, you’re bound to have noticed a new venture based at No.6.
Cuckoo Creative, who you might remember from their time in Freshwater, have moved to the other side of the Island and are now based on Ryde High Street.
The aim of Cuckoo Creative is to enhance Island communities through artistic regeneration projects, encouraging engagement in the contemporary arts and promote local artistic talent at a grass roots level.
Weekend workshop
This weekend the studio is open between 10am – 4pm on Saturday for free drop-in ‘plarn’ art workshops (making things from recycled plastic bags) and have a plarn peg loomer doing interactive demonstrations for the day.
The not-for-profit project does this by providing community workshops, regenerating pop-up shop projects and offering affordable studio space for local artists.
What can I find at Cuckoo
Their latest project provides a home for three Artist Studios, offering local creatives affordable studio space and a support and networking programme as well as, opportunities to collaborate, exhibit and sell work within Cuckoo Creative.
Feel free to pop into the shop and browse through the hand-picked art, products and curios from some of the most highly talented British designer makers.
This venture is supported by Ryde Town Council and Ryde Arts Festival.
