With all of the excitement yesterday of the proposed Isle of Wight boundary changes (map), we’ve been contacted by many VB readers speculating about IW council leader, David Pugh, and his potential future.
Those looking forward to the prospect of David becoming an MP for the Island will have to wait for a while.
No current intentions, but …
David told VentnorBlog that he doesn’t currently have any intentions to run for election as an MP at all.
His supporters will be pleased to hear that if he does look to become an MP, he’ll be doing it on the Isle of Wight, but there will be quite a wait.
What about the future?
When VB asked David, “If you don’t currently have intentions [to become an MP], is it something you might consider?”, he answered, “Never say never! Come back to me in about 10 / 15 years time and I will consider it then!”
We wondered if he might choose somewhere else apart from the Island. He told VB, “I am a native Islander. If I was to ever consider it, I would want to do it here.”
