David Pugh Rumour Is Unfounded, He Tells VB

Rumours have been circulating around the parish of Shanklin that Cllr David Pugh was planning to step down from his role at Shanklin Town council.

David PughNaturally, in the VB pursuit of truth, we contacted him to ask him to confirm or bust the myth.

He was pretty clear in his response.

“It is completely without foundation”, he told VB.

“I joined Shanklin Town Council in 2005, was re-elected in 2009 and will be serving out the rest of the current term until 2013. It is my firm intention to stand for re-election in 2013.

“I hope that clears it up sufficiently!” – Yes David, couldn’t be more clear.

David Pugh received roughly 2/3rds of the votes (804 out of 1179) in the 2009 elections.

You are referring to his IWC election result – sitting in Newport – not the contest (if there was one) for the parish council (aka ‘Shanklin Town Council’)

“most of shanklin residents want him to go”

Most of shanklin residents failed to vote when it mattered, don’t know what everyone is complaining about.

how ironic… you claim pugh is arrogant, yet you have the arrogance to claim to speak for the majority of shanklins residents.

the majority of Shanklin residents choose not to have a voice at elections…so who knows what they want…but the majority of people who care enough or can be bothered voted for Pugh and until people can be bothered to get of their fat arses and do something that will not change

Is your photo another version of the 1997 Tory evil eyes poster?

Mr Pugh – in a stew.

The question asked of him was :- “David Pugh, are you planning to step down from your role at Shanklin Town council.” His answer was stereotypical. The question should have been:- Is it true that Shanklin Town Council is going to ask you to step-down? This is the actual rumour running around Shanklin. I have been given many reasons for the rumour. The one that was repeated… Read more »

This is not anything like the two/three rumours I have heard around town…most revolve around his personal life and not having much of one as he is so busy ( doing what I don;t know)

Just a reminder to readers that this is not the place for speculation of people’s personal lives (not that we think this is what no.5 has done)

If he’d like to do the whole Island a real service, all he has to do is resign from the Council. Trebles all round if that should happen!

With a bit of luck his connection with both the IWC and Shanklin Town Council will both be terminated by the voters next year. (Thats if the Island Conservatives don’t see sense and ditch him as they realise liability that he represents).

I think the days of being on the IOWC and on Town and Parish Councils is over or should be over. So many conflicts of interest as the IOWC pass down costs and services. An IOWC must find it difficult to support two masters, apart from Cllr Drivel that is.
