There’s an interesting exhibition coming up at Dimbola Lodge at the end of the summer.
David Suff is an internationally acclaimed artist whose work has been exhibited around the world.
David specialises in works on paper, and is well-known for his remarkably rich drawings in coloured pencil and for intricate hand-coloured etchings.
He has a very particular vision – a combination of an introspective and autobiographical truth with a search for a common spiritual enquiry.
There is a contemplative stillness at the heart of his finest pieces; his patient technique reveals his carefully considered response of eye and hand to the visual world.
David says “My pictures are based on observational drawing and the landscape, especially gardens. The garden illustrates humankind’s search for the divine. For many the garden is an attempt to have a small glimpse of heaven here on earth.”
These drawings are richly coloured, finely detailed – often mesmerising in their hold of the viewer’s attention.
