This is the second in our series of interviews with people concerned about the ramifications of closing the Military Road.
While at the IWALC meeting, we’d listened to the presentation by David Tolfree, a Brighstone parish councillor, who had outlined seven reasons why the traffic from Military Road shouldn’t be diverted through Brook, as had been suggested by the Isle of Wight Council.
As he says, Brook is a very quiet village, and he thinks totally unsuitable for taking the kind of traffic that is carried on the Military Road (5,000 cars a day we heard from Clive Tilley, Commercial Director of Wightlink).
David summarised it – “Effectively we’re talking about the destruction of a small village.”
