Freshwater Independent Lifeboat is breaking out the summer with their first Open Day in over a year.
Day at the Bay happens in Freshwater Bay this Saturday (14th August) from midday until late.
Chairman, Rob McLaren, said,
“Freshwater Independent Lifeboat relishes the opportunity to open our doors to the local and wider community. Community is at the heart of what Freshwater Independent Lifeboat is about – getting people involved, and of course, saving lives at sea.”
Look out for …
This will be one of their largest events to date, with stalls from Community Partners including,
- Freshwater Fire Station
- National Coastwatch Institution Needles
- IW Search and Rescue and Suicide Prevention IOW
Also, in attendance will be,
- British Divers Marine Life Rescue
- Freshwater Bay Residents Association
What to expect
Throughout the day there will be live music playing, along with craft stalls, games of skill with an opportunity to learn about the lifeboat service and perhaps become a crew member?
Young ones can have their faces painted, and be part of the pirate themed fancy dress competition and the emergency services will be on hand to demonstrate some rescue exercises, along with first aid tips, and training.
Refreshments will be available throughout the day with Freshwater Lifeboat and the Residents Association running BBQs.
Live entertainment
As the live entertainment continues past 6pm supporting partners Woodfire Pizza, Stripped Ventnor and Isle of Wight Bars will keep visitors fed and watered into the night.
The idea is for everyone to enjoy themselves, but this is a fundraiser to keep Freshwater Lifeboat and the service available 24/7.
