Richard Quigley MP champions funding for Early Support Hubs on the Isle of Wight

Richard Quigley, Labour MP for Isle of Wight West, has welcomed the Government’s announcement of continued top-up funding for Early Support Hubs, including vital support for young people’s mental health services on the Island.

This investment, part of a £7 million national package, will ensure that more than 12,000 children and young people across England continue to access early mental health and wellbeing support.

What the funding supports
The funding will support the Isle of Wight Youth Trust’s Information, Advice, and Counselling (YIACS) model, including,

  • Counselling services for young people over 18 who are not covered by existing NHS
    contracts.
  • Information, advice, and guidance to help young people navigate the transition into
    adulthood.
  • Youth Voice activities to promote awareness, campaign for change, and advocate for
    improved local services.
  • Digital outreach and marketing to ensure more young people know about the support
    available.

Quigley: The Isle of Wight Youth Trust does fantastic work
Richard Quigley said,

“Our manifesto committed to tackling the growing mental health crisis that has profoundly impacted my constituency and communities across the country.

“After writing to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Wes Streeting MP, I’m pleased that the Isle of Wight Youth Trust has been selected as one of 24 early support hubs to receive vital funding

“The Isle of Wight Youth Trust does fantastic work, providing essential support for the island’s young people. It is only right that they receive the investment needed to sustain their crucial services. I will continue to champion the Youth Trust, both in Parliament and on the Island, to ensure young people get the support they deserve.”

Dare: This announcement is highly welcomed
Jo Dare CEO of the Isle of Wight Youth Trust added,

“Our service model of integrating therapeutic support with information, advice and practical support has been proven to deliver the broadest level of help, and best outcomes, to young Islanders struggling with their mental health.

“This announcement, enabling us to continue to deliver an IW Early Support Hub, is highly welcomed, as it allows us to sustain essential services for young people aged 11 to 25.

“Furthermore, I hope this positions us as a preferred provider when the Young Futures funding becomes available.”
