Through a pivotal programme designed and delivered by local firm, Diamond Adventures, every Isle of Wight Primary School will receive a completely free day trip to the UK Capital, London, thanks to support from sponsors WightFibre and Red Funnel.
Their aim is to broaden the horizons of Island children. For some local children, this will be their first opportunity to get off of the Island, let alone visit the capital of the United Kingdom.
Giving local children a new perspective on life
For many children, London is only a dream! Often portrayed as a big scary city that only important people go to.
By offering a chance to visit London, Diamond Adventures aims to break that barrier and expose the vibrant history and cultural side of London to the Isle of Wight, which will give local children a new perspective on life beyond the Isle of Wight.

An annual programme
This is set to be an annual programme that will see every year 5 groups take part, similar to how year 6 groups take advantage of the UKSA Test the Water Programme that is also funded by WightFibre.
Each school can expect their day trip to be fully organised for them by the highly experienced tour consultation team at Diamond Adventures – groups will receive their coach travel, Red Funnel Ferry crossings and admission to a number of London Attractions completely free of charge.
Putting the Island on the map
At a cost of tens of thousands of pounds, this programme is unmatched by any other county in the UK.
For too long Isle of Wight had been labelled ‘behind the times’; this programme is putting the Island on the map and showing the rest of the country, what can be achieved when businesses work together for the benefit of the community.

O’Toole: It is only possible thanks to the financial support from our friends
Keiran O’Toole, Managing Director, Diamond Adventures, said,
“It is with utmost excitement that we offer this unique opportunity to primary schools on the Isle of Wight. As far as we know, there is nowhere else in the country where every school within a county is able to access a free trip like this.
“It is only possible thanks to the financial support from our friends at WightFibre and Red Funnel. If you’re a school teacher at an Island Primary School, get in touch today and we can start organising your London Adventure.”
Harris: We know how beneficial this programme will be
Josh Harris, Director, Diamond Adventures, said,
“With over 35% of Island children living in poverty according to the End Child Poverty Coalition, all of us at Diamond Adventures along with sponsors, WightFibre and Red Funnel know how beneficial this programme will be for our educational community and local children.”
Collins: Essential to provide children with valuable experiences
Fran Collins, CEO, Red Funnel Ferries said,
“We take immense pride in partnering with local businesses like Diamond Adventures. Supporting local children in accessing enriching cultural trips to destinations like London is essential in providing them with valuable experiences, and it is hugely important to Red Funnel that we play a role in making this happen.
“Our team is excited to welcome the children aboard our vessels and be part of their journey.”

Irvine: WightFibre is delighted to sponsor the Year 5 London Adventure programme
John Irvine, CEO, WightFibre, said,
“We all know people who have grown up on the Island, but never had the opportunity for a trip off the Island.
“This programme aims to fix that.
“WightFibre is delighted to sponsor the Year 5 London Adventure programme with Diamond Adventures. We hope to help create unforgettable memories for every single year 5 pupil on the Island.”
“I’ve never been there before”
A Year 5 Pupil, Barton Primary School said,
“I’m so excited to visit London! I know it’s the capital city of England and where it is on a map, but I’ve never been there before!”
