Did You Take Part In The Disposable Bench Project?

Many thanks to Nick Mack and Rosie Peake for sharing this truly inspiring idea with VB readers. We’re sure you’ll agree the results are fantastic. Ed

Did You Take Part In The Disposable Bench Project?A disposable camera attached to a bench above the Undercliff, overlooking St Catherine’s Lighthouse, made Island walks all the more interesting this Christmas.

The camera, secured to the bench only by string, was placed in a waterproof bag along with a note that read: “Merry Christmas, this camera has been popped here for the next few days. Please take a photo and then leave it for the next people. It’s just a little bit of festive fun.”

Inspired by other disposable camera projects
Rosie Peake, who was visiting her parents in nearby Niton, recently developed a keen interest in disposable camera photography.

She saw similar bench-based photography projects on the Internet, saying, “The bench above the Undercliff is a beautiful spot that I wanted to catch on a disposable camera and capture moments of others enjoying it too.

“I’m a big fan of ‘borrowing’ ideas and thankfully I’ve got some great friends who have lots of them. My interest in disposable photography originates from Nick, who’s captured many a moment on disposable film and keeps these moments alive via a blog.”

Fantastic collection
Rosie and I could not have expected a better collection of pictures from the budding photographers who walked past the bench. They range from family portraits to beautiful landscape shots, all brimming over with character and energy.

“There’s something really lovely about the excitement on people’s faces at being part of it. They’re captivated by the idea, you’ll see in the photos that they just like the randomness of it; that there’s something unique about being involved in something like this.” Said Rosie.
