Honeybourne Jewellery, the acclaimed independent venture known for its custom-made products, outstanding skill, and handmade jewellery, is thrilled to mark its 20th anniversary this July.
Since its establishment in 2003, the brand has thrived under the creative leadership of Sophie Honeybourne, an alumna of the esteemed Royal College of Art.
Two decades of artistic vision
To commemorate this notable landmark, Sophie has been diligently creating a collection of refined automated sculptures fashioned from sterling silver and slate.
These one-of-a-kind works of art will be revealed during an intimate pop-up exhibition set in the Honeybourne Jewellery shop from Friday 21st to Saturday 29th July, aligned with this year’s Ventnor Fringe Festival.
A tribute to nature’s wonders
The motivation behind this series originates from Sophie’s fascination with natural forms, placing emphasis on butterflies and meadow grasses.
These represent transformation, flight, and seed dispersal, embodying Sophie’s experience of originating, growing, and fostering the business.
Alive through art
These personal creations not only exhibit Sophie’s known craftsmanship and artistry, but also encapsulate her passion for dynamism.
As the handles are turned, the pieces softly animate through a concealed mechanism, a method Sophie first explored during her studies at the Royal College.
Sophie has expressed her excitement about the project, reflecting on how the concept came to be,
“A brief was set by our course professor David Watkins, we had to interpret a classical piece of music written about ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.
“I took inspiration from the swaying of the meadow grasses left in the fairies wake. I have always wanted the chance to revisit them; it seemed like the perfect time.”
Teamwork breeds excellence
The Honeybourne Jewellery team includes Sophie’s husband and business associate, Raff Raphael, and fine art graduate Emily Buckingham.
Collaborating under Sophie’s guidance, the team ensures each piece encapsulates Honeybourne Jewellery’s dedication to craftsmanship.
Cultivating customer relationships
Over the past two decades, the enterprise has garnered an extraordinary reputation for its bespoke creations and has developed a significant relationship with its valued clientele, who hail from across the country and around the world.
An invitation to art appreciators
The pop-up exhibition during the Ventnor Fringe Festival offers a singular chance for silverware enthusiasts, art, sculpture, and jewellery aficionados to witness a microcosm of Sophie’s creative journey, along with their signature in-store collections.
Marking 20 years of dedication
Honeybourne Jewellery’s 20th-anniversary event signifies twenty years of unswerving craftsmanship, artistic inspiration, and a commitment to creating stunning and contemporary pieces.
