Police follow up their appeal about the robbery in Ryde with CCTV images. Ed
Police are investigating a robbery at the Co-Op in Somerset Road, Ryde, on 15th March.
At about 10.10pm a man entered the shop and demanded money from the tills. He jumped the counter and assaulted three members of staff. He made off with £80 in cash.
One of the staff members was treated at St Mary’s Hospital for a cut to one of his eyes.
The suspect was described as:
- White Male
- Mid 30s
- 5’ 7-8” tall
- Stocky Build
- Tribal tattoo on his lower arm
- He was wearing a black balaclava, black round neck t-shirt with arms exposed and green / dark coloured trousers

Police believe this may be linked to two similar robberies that took place on the island in February; one happened in Alldays, Sandown, on February 1 and the other took place at Southern Co-Operatives in Shanklin on February 17.
